Wii market isn't unpredictable, Nintendo seems to have a great handle on it, only screwed up with Wii music and Animal crossing, maybe other companies should look at what they do and try to learn.

Call me crazy but I think including Mario games with just about every NES and SNES helped the series become a success. Aside from being a fantastic platformer, everyone who had those consoles played it.

Back in the 80s, SMB was very much like Wii Sports now in that you often had consumers buying the platform specifically for the game itself and that's actually what drove the hardware success.  GB w/Tetris was similar, Genesis with Sonic somewhat too... I don't it's really been the case for most other major pack-ins though, nearly everything was more a "value added" situation or people just coming on board for the established brand (SNES, PS2, etc).
