I get trophies for my own satisfaction. If I really like a game, I'll try to get the platinum, but if I get stuck on an annoying trophy, then I won't bother with it. And so far, I have three platinums, Uncharted 1, Uncharted 2 and Mirror's Edge.
Also, I like that developers can see what trophies I get, so hopefully they can see what I like and what I don't
