Looks like Wii sales were strong enough to force Pachter to back off his ridiculous Wii HD 2010 prediction

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13772_3-10406500-52.html

Now he's saying that if Sony ever drops below $200, Nintendo will have to make a Wii HD, lol, this guy never gives up with his silliness, Even if PS3 dropped, it wouldn't affect Wii sales, the Slim launch and Price cut didn't affect Wii sales in the least, and Nintendo could always drop to $150 if they had to lol.

I suppose eventually in like 2012 or 2013 when Nintendo announces that their next console has HD capability he'll probably claim he was right all along, even though it won't be a Wii HD.

He is nuts.

$149 wii would not hold of a $199 PS3.  While PS3 out selling wii would not force wii hd, they would still be selling alot and easily out sellling the 360.  And would still be banking serious cash of every sale.

Actually I think a $149 Wii would hold off a $199 PS3, as we've seen, Wii sales are relatively independent of PS3 and 360 price, only thing that would affect it is Wii games and Wii price, so Wii sales would be at least what they are now, if not higher.  PS3 sales would dpend on a few factors, like 360 price, and whether its in decline or not.

Also at the moment, PS3 is still not making profit, so a $199, they'd probably be losing money as well

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)
