I'm currently playing through the Trilogy and find the games to be much easier that the GameCube versions, I've completed Prime 1 and breezed through it, compared to the way I struggled with the original. It's mainly due to the controls, they make for a much more comfortable, easier and faster experience. I couldn't believe how fast the final boss in Prime 1 went down. The hardest ones for me in that game were the Omage Pirate and Ridley.

Right now I'm on Prime 2, and whereas I stopped way early in the original game and never looked back (never even made it into Dark Aether), I'm finding the Wii version infinitely more enjoyable, again, due to the controls. I've heard some things about how hard the Boost Ball Boss and the final boss are supposed to be, so I wonder how I'll fare against them.

After 2 I'll get started on Corruption, even though I already played and completed the first version. Then I'll probably have a more complete picture of how the games stack up against each other, with all having the same controls.

Also, I think one of the things that make the games hard is the lack of save stations, they're very sparse, few and far between, so if you do happen to die, you'll have to replay a large chunk of game, which might put some people off. I know it did me on the original Prime 1 and especially 2. Still, they're part of what makes Metroid Metroid.


1) What does necrobump mean? (I'm specifically curious about the necro part)

2) Let's get this thread going again so please send updates about how you're finding MP:Trilogy. Unfortunately it's not available in my country.

3) It's important not to have too many save stations as that'll decrease the suspense big time. MP3 had too many imo.

2. Agreed. I'm finding it to be one of the greatest experiences in gaming currently on offer. :) Also, that's just not right! :o How dare they not sell it there... I highly advise you to see if you can somehow get your hands on it...

3. Yeah I know, that's why I said it's part of what makes Metroid Metroid. I like it the way it is, it's just that sometimes, during hard parts of the game, it can be irritating to have to go through a lengthy section of the game again without any way of saving. The Metroids are games you're gonna have to really sit down and take your time to play, not for short bursts, but that's fine by me. :)


2) Yeah it sucks big time. I'm going to check if some shop can import it for me as soon as I move into my new flat (2 weeks from now)

3) I fully agree. It's a question of balance for the devs I guess. In Echoes I put the controller down a few times for long periods because of this. Still, with a game as classy as this I don't mind that much and the added suspense is totally worth it.

Are you playing on a HD TV? How does it hold up? How does 1 and 2 compare to 3 visually?
