I think Nintendo is unlikely to launch a new console and a new handheld within 18 months of each other, and it seems to me that a new handheld will likely come first. Which is just another way of saying 2012 at the earliest for a new console, possibly later.

Which is why I used the present tense; I am of the opinion that Nintendo has learned a few lessons from GC's failures - like a really weak launch line up can kill a console.
