well if you aren't using double precision and the power 7 is a far more advanced CPU than the CELL I mean each SPE in the can put out 25Gflops single precision where as the power7 can do 32Gflops per core double precision. also the power7 cores are much more versatile than SPEs and in general computing (not encoding video) power7 cores are much better.
