Okay, lets look at the actual figures here....the PS3 is the only Next Gen console that is up sales wise YOY. The Wii is still doing fantastically, but is gradually on the way down although it will end this generation by far on top. The 360 sales are down compared to last year. The PS3 although consistently abused for being overpriced, crap games etc has managed to build up some momentum at exactly the right time and has seem a consistently high number of sales since the start of September whereas the 360 has consistently sold less compared to last year even though the price is significantly less.
Consider this; the PS3 is $299 in NA compared to the 360 that is $199 (Arcade) and in Europe the difference in price is astounding...there is a huge £100 of a difference between the PS3 and 360 (Arcade). So it seems that people do in fact want a PS3 and have probably wanted one last year and the years before, but cost is a huge contributor to what they buy.
Although I expected the 360 to sell a bit less this week and the PS3 to sell more than it did, the figures are pretty good all things considering and a huge 30-40% increase on last years sales is a huge positive.
I can see it staying like this until MS introduces the next price cut...which could happen anytime by the way.
Prediction (June 12th 2017)
Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.
PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)
