Considering that its a 7900GTX and the 7900GT is around the same level of the PS3 GPU my point stands. One 5870 is 8+ * more powerful than the PS3 GPU and therefore the 5970 is more than 12* more powerful.

I didn't think so.

Considering the 8800GT has ~3* the transistors, is clocked higher and the architecture is a more efficient unified design then yes it is very plausible as we're comparing two architectures which have been tweaked as much in drivers as you can reasonably expect.

It's pretty well established that the 8800-line was twice the power of 7800, no more and no less.
