Sales - UK charts week 47 - View Post

Hey, this is UK charts, forget NPD, Famitsu etc ...

How many games released over a year ago in UK are still in the charts?

I think any game released over that amount of time before but still charting must have fairly good legs.

As for Wii games having "bigger" legs than others, it's true to an extent, but the vast majority of Wii games spend less than one week in the UK charts. I would say that a better description of games that have legs is "casual", rather than the platform that they are on. You can tell which games will have legs from the target audience rather than the platform.

Compare Wii to PS3 in UK, despite having a far smaller installed base than Wii in UK PS3 has managed to sell four games over 600k through October, with November it will probably be 6 - FIFA 10 & COD6), compared to 5 for the Wii (should be 6 through November with Wii Sports Resort).

Of course the Wii games over 600k have sold multiple times better than the PS3 ones, and console sales have always been heavily weighted towards the top selling titles, but Wii has taken it to an extreme. Basically 6 Wii games have huge legs in the UK, the other are left to die.

Look at the UK top 40 every week, this is the best week for a long time for Wii, when was the last time that Wii had 3 games in the top 40 which weren't upgrades of games which have been charting since release over a year ago?
