| kingofwale said: didn't most Wii fans agree that "rail-shooter" is just lazy and doesn't deserve good sales number? (quote from another highly rated railshooter thread). Frankly, this game will bomb, a shame though, it looks great and Wii is supposed to deliver great shooting experience. Now the market is just flooded with railshooters |
This is different. This is a "3rd person rails shooter" which basically makes it a 3-D shmup. It plays like Star Fox. You can control your character, but you can't slow down or turn back.
The difference is that in 1st person rails shooters you can't dodge. Your only option is to shoot the bad guys really fast, and if they throw something at you, shoot it in mid-air. Games like Sin and Punishment and Star Fox have dodging, which changes everything 'cuz it's totally full of bullet hell madness.
Nobody was complaining that Gradius or Life Force or R-Type were "on-rails shooters" because you couldn't turn around. Shmups kick ass. And Treasure is their king. To knock Sin and Punishment is to knock the team behind Gunstar Heroes and Ikaruga. It's just not a good move.
