Sounds like the old conflict of work vs. family.
She is not the first person who selected home life over work life. Nor will she be the last.
She did seem to be the only person -- besides Reggie -- who could take on the gaming media and make them look foolish (and she did it better than Reggie).
My guess is that she was given a choice similar to what a lot of people who were with Nintendo HQ when it moved from the Seattle area to Silicon Valley -- after a while we want you on site if you want to be with us.
