Sounds like a weak excuse to me though. I understand there's a recession, and it's doing funny/crazy things to the economy, but making excuses like that is just weak. They might as well say "well if 50 million people bought PS3 within the first year without a price cut, we'd be all set". These what-ifs are kind of silly. There are still plenty of other companies that are still profitable, let alone very profitable during this recession.
Instead of blaming the recession, look at poor marketing/business strategy. It's pretty sad that MS, with it's problem-ridden system is turning profit, when Sony, with it's supposely superior system, is almost 5 billion in the red.
This whole thing is just silly though.
