Why would the PS3 win the holidays in the US if it's selling 42% below 360's levels right now?

Yeah, thank god no walmart price cut and MW 2 bundles (this week) had anything to do with that...

Oh oops, I totally forgot about that.

In that case I guess the 360 will have to count on the fact that it's cheaper to attract parents buying presents for their kids. That could result in a bigger holiday boost for the 360 than for the PS3 (but it's not a given of course).

Outside of the obivious outliers such as the walmart deal and the MW2 bundle, the PS3 and X360 have been tied for basically 2 1/2 months in the US,  A cheaper 360 has shown to be a non factor to the PS3 in that time.

My point is that the demographics buying consoles change during the holidays, so price can become more (or less, but not likely) of an issue during that time.

Hmm, I would think that there would be more money available (or willingness to fork it over, seeing how you'd be getting more bang for your buck) than in non-holiday season tbh. Would seem odd the other way around. I'd think people would hoard their money during the year and be a little more lenient towards the end of the year.
