Because of the 10 year lifecycle. Is this really something new didnt they said the same for PS2 ? All Sony homeconsoles had until now 10 year lifecycle.

They launched PS1 in 1994 and they stopped producing the Playstation in 2006 thats a 12 year Lifecycle.

The PS2 was launched in March 2000 in Japan and later in the year in Europe and USA. They still got new games and Fifa 2010 was even in the Charts a couple of weeks ago in some countrys even higher then Xbox360 Version.

The PS2 still sells and in March 2010 the Console is 10 years on the market and i am sure it will be atleast as long on the market as the PS1 was (12 years).

A 10 year lifecycle console from Sony is the standard for them. They didnt said that they wont release another Console during the LifeSpan of the PS3.

Whats so special about it ? Why the people talk about it ? Thats nothing special. And if I remember correctly they said the exact same thing before the PS2 launched.

PS1 and 2 were generation leaders, 3...not so much, that's why people talk about it, because Sony hasn't backed off it yet, they still mention it every now and then, even though its not going to happen
