Any one finish Dragon Age yet? How long did it take?

@Darc, why play a game you don't like twice? That just seems silly. And I hope you don't play MMOs if your a questor (person obsessed with, or at least aiming at, doing every quest)

@Aragod, curious to what put you off about FFVII. It's not my favorite FF, but I thought it was well done, and had an interesting story (especially for the time).

Well I think that was the problem, I've played it after all those years downloaded from PSN, because all the talk that about how it changed RPGs at its time (which probably did).

I didn't like the setting, I thought it would be fantasy (final fantasy... you know association :), and I really can't stand FF combat system, maybe deeper in the game there are more things to it, but after 6 hours it was the same old and boring. I've played other FF games on NDS (well tried), but it's really not my cup of tea. Maybe I'm getting fed up with the japanese story telling, with all those incredibly naive characters and all the patos... The only JRPGs that have ever appealed to me were Fire Emblem (but that's mainly because of the gameplay, strategic rpg is my mana) and Dragon Quest remakes on NDS. Which is weired, since DQ and FF have a lot in common.

Yeah the story in FFVII get pretty cool later in the game, but I can see what you're saying. It's the same for me and FF1. Some of my friends are all like "it's the best FF ever! I love it, and still go back to play it" and I try to play it and it's crazy boring. It's all about nostalgia factor for a game like that, and a game like FFVII now. But back then, it was the shit.

I like strategy RPGs too, but I haven't played any recently. They just can't seem to keep my attention the same anymore. Shining Force was my favorite (all 3, though I never got all the parts to SF3). Maybe I'm just waiting for a good, new SRPG Shining Force, not these lame-ass boring action RPGs they keep trying to make.

Yeah thats pretty much it, I have problems playing any old games that I haven't played before, since I can hardly have that nostalgia kick, because this is my first gen of consoles. I can play remakes on handhelds, but god damn if I ever played FF remake on WiiWares. I just expect more from the big screen, it might be sad but well... that's how it is.

I've allways enjoyed strategy games and rpgs more on the pc, rather than consoles. Turn based / real time realy doesn't matter to me, I love them all and spend years playing those. That Shining Force you've mentioned, what are they like? I might check those out.
