am I the only one who can't stand turn based RPG's that use anything else than a Pokémon-like battle system?

The new "innovative" Active time battle systems are one of the things that scare me away from newer RPGs

It depends, for me. I absolutely love the Tales-battle system, but with many other games it falls short and I just can't enjoy it. Turn-based is pretty good even if it's old, for example I loved Lost Odyssey to death.
