Just their strategy is not direct competition with the HD systems. Since disinterest was what got them third place with the GC, that is what they always directly go after now. The HD systems could come into play, but mainly when it shows they are doing better against disinterest, and Nintendo needs to fight against it harder.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
