I can't think of any other ports that went from SD to HD during the conversion, effectively including the SGC, since its basically sub-SD games smoothed out, is all. Isn't it possible that the conversion was more pleasant than most would surmise it to be, and hence, the awesome scores? Made some great games even better -- much moreso than other ports (which did NOT do SD to HD upgrades, despite doing some other upgrades, like new controls and widescreen support) have done. Perhaps, just maybe, HD gaming is "worth it" after all? |
It sounds like it went very well. Bluepoint commented that they had GoW 1 running on the PS3 in 2 weeks. The locked 60 frames per second, uncompressed textures, 2xAA, trophy support and HD upscaling really seem to have improved the overall game. Professional reviewing sites will most likely take great care to be certain that the Collection doesn't receive a better score than the original version. Due to this restriction, I doubt the Collection will end with a higher metascore than either individual game. I wonder what the break even point on this game is? I'll take a guess it is around 500k. I hope Sony does well with this, it would encourage them to revisit other titles such as the often requested SOTC collection.
Thanks for the input, Jeff.
