It is true that people the switch to HD is going on.  But it is still not in the majority.

The main point though is that at the point of system release three years ago, HD was no where near the dominant force or choice -- which is why the Wii did not go for HD at the time.

The majoirty doesn't play video games as a hobby either. Gamers who spend a lot of money  buying games like MGS4, MW2, AC2,etc. will more likely own or planning to own a HDTV in the near future. HDTV also has an advantage of the ability hooking up your PC  to watch TV programs on Hulu, DL movies, etc.

Agreed. But again, think of the market when the PS3 and Wii were released three years ago. Not a lot of people had HD TVs.

And while the PS3 aimed at those people, the Wii aimed at everyone -- and thus went SD.
