Actually, yes, it makes a huge difference, if you care about such things as visuals.
However, the most important difference is the overscan lines, as outlined here. Nobody ever understands why exactly this is a monumental improvement until they read this:

There is a reason this game has great reviews. It is a fantastic port with improved visuals and framerate, and it's finally built for an HDTV.
