PES is ancient news and its best days are long behind it. Apparently PES was considered better than FIFA back in its heyday on PS1/PS2. But that is debatable, I personally always preferred FIFA over PES.

No, it wasn't debatable, FIFA was crap, always.
something that bothers me is that from what I remember FIFA always got better critic reception (and I'm talking even in the days of Super Nintendo, when the difference was even more ridiculous in favour of ISSS). Critics always gave too much value in licenced teams and statistics over gameplay. The thing is, I played every single iteration of ISSS/Winning Eleven/PES and once every two o three years I gave a chance to a FIFA game, cause every fucking year the press promised that it was the best thing evar, much better than before, etc, and it was always a terrible game, not just inferior to the konami game, but a horrible game experience.
So after somewhere between 06 or 07, I simply gave up on FIFA. Never more. Not a chance. They may say it's miles better than PES, whatever, that promise has existed always and never been delivered.
Am I missing a great game? I don't know, I don't care, and I won't even try. EA Sports fucked with my money too many times, they won't have it anymore.

i used to play ISS / PES until FIFA 09 came out.
FIFA 09 is the best football game ever. even better than PES 4-6.
FIFA 10 is better than PES 2010 but it is still worse than FIFA 09.

i hate EA too and i still bought it.
EA are such assholes. i bought NFS:Shift because it got high review scores and you know what, the game is useless. the controls are shit and the AI is crap.
i bought FIFA 10 and its a major dissappointment in comparison to FIFA 09. (PES 2010 is still worse than FIFA 10!!!)
i bought Fight Night 4 because of the high reviews too and its a piece of shit. FN3 was 1000x better.
i watched 2 videos of BC2 and the game looks so great. the graphics are so awesome, 1 of the best i have ever seen, if not the best. but you know what, i am afraid to buy it, because its from damn EA and all games they released this year were disappointing.
