I know. Do I need to underline the 70k preorders thing? That's only 20k higher than Tales of Graces. I think it'lll do 300-400k first week in Japan and have good legs.

I think if we could get preorder figures for other similar minded Nintendo games (Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart Wii, NSMB) that'd probably help sort it out more.  Anyone have them?

SSBB had shortages so that doesn't count (Nintendo had only 30k or so ready for pre-orders).

Retailers pre-ordered 700k SMG copies and it sold 260k first week. Still we have no idea how big actual consumer pre-orders, but that's the best I could find.

EDIT- and a small news about NSMB DS pre-orders and launch that does not bode well for these Wii preorders. For now.

I must be reading this incorrectly. Did you last source just claim that NSMB DS had 1.3 million preorders in Japan? It sold 910K (VGChartz numbers) first week. Clearly that article cannot be trusted, and is useless for any claim.
