I will grant that the author has a very astute understanding of Nintendo's relationship with the media. Nintendo won't feed into their hype machines, so the media won't feed into Nintendo's, leading both sides to further believe that they get along fine without one another (as Nintendo's been doing fine despite their decreased coverage, and the media has been doing fine throwing more focus on the PS360 crowd)
To suggest that Nintendo needs to start doing this is erroneous, though. It's the kind of arena where Nintendo isn't meant to compete, due to the kind of games they tend to make.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
