Console gamers are just as bad, if not worse.

Before launch that 6.1 user score for Gears 2 was closer to 1:

Resistance 2, 5.7, again same thing prior to launch, closer to 1:

With PC gamers this scoring of 1.4, whilst silly is all down to being frustrated and not having a suitable place to vent that anger. Can you say the same for the console fanboys? At least PC gamers have a good reason to be frustrated, standard features have been removed for no real reason other than to generate more revenue from DLC in the future.

I believe several things you have seen with MW2 were done to be able to have uniformity in the game development process between the console and PC.  In other words, develop the same product, but release it on the PC also.  Have the online play the same, and map the gameplay to it.  It was done to save on development costs, and have uniformity between platforms.

Ok, in regards to the score for the games, it does appear that Internet fanboys of all stripes are the worst.  Fanboys will end up being fanboys.  This still doesn't reduce the fact that the levels of hatred at the PC version of MW2 is laughably awful.

I don't buy that at all. Why? because IW managed to do a good PC version of CoD4 and for MW2 were offered a huge budget which they turned down. There was no pressure to save on development costs. As for uniformity, that's a really poor excuse as every platform has its own quirks that should be taken advantage of.

Imagine a multi-plat game that was released on Wii but had no motion controls. And I don't really see it as hatred but more frustration that a AAA game that a huge number of PC gamers were excited and hyped up for does not have the basic standards set in place for the last 15 yrs.

Developers and publishers shouldn't try to force things onto the customer, they should be working to create competitive products that satisfy the customer. In most industries, companies research the consumers demands and cater to them to be competitive. IW/Activision have done the exact opposite and frustrated a proportion of their customers.

As for the level of frustraton over-the-top? Maybe. Justified? Definately
