I think Conduit deserved the hype, or rather the developer deserved the hype that went along with it. Small 3rd-party developer taking a risk on Wii and trying to build an engine and enter a genre that was not their comfort zone. It might not have been brilliant, but it was definately a good first Wii game from a developer just starting to produce traditional games and not shovelware.

Reflex is simply a port of a 2yr old game that already has the CoD name to help it sell and is published and developed by experienced developers that are really out to make a lil' extra monies.

I agree completely with the first paragraph. This industry needs risk-takers and hungry up-and-coming developers.

I do feel sorry for Treyarch, though. They've worked hard on this port and done a damn good job of it, but it seems like everybody is turning their back on them for it. Infinity Ward is pissed that Treyarch is using their IP, Activision is doing piss all to support it after having funded the development (the only screens released are still those horrible alphas, seems more like sabotage than PR), and now even the media are now saying it's worse than CoD: WaW, contrary to the impressions of actual gamers everywhere.

It seems like the only people on Treyarch's side are the dedicated Wii FPS gamers, and everybody else is working against them.
