This seems like a statement to get people to buy RE:DC, they are implying it now so that you feel you need to support RE on Wii to get it. They couldn't repeat it directly because they said something similar when UC was coming out.
I think a proper RE Wii game already in development, these light gun shooters are basically appetizers. Dunno if it's RE5 or not.
