First off, lets ditch the word argument. I hate arguments. how about viewpoint? I like discussing and sharing viewpoints.
Ok. I'm definitely not denying that religion is a major presence followed by billions of people. Nor would I suggest that it's something we can forcibly eliminate, or something we might ever fully overcome. What I disagree with is that it's something humanity needs. Yes it would be devastating to a lot of people to lose their faith or to be denied the right to practice their believes, but that's a need that's learned, not inherent.
I'd say, and I think you'd agree highway, that human beings are quite capable of living healthy happy and generous lives without religion, and that that is a premise that could be expanded to broader - if not total - society. But personally, to say that religion will always be necessary regardless of whether it's true or not... well, I said how I feel about that in my last post.
