Pro Evolution Soccer is apparently pretty good on the Wii, so there's no excuse for what EA has done.

PES Wii is actually more complex than the traditional versions thanks to the rts pointer controls.  Plus for purists they kept in traditional controls as an option and Konami's even bundling it with the Classic Controller Pro in Japan.   It's going to outsell FIFA 10 Wii for sure imo, though it'd do even better if Konami could ever manage to release it at the same time as the HD versions.
