You do need the run button, because in COD, you can't run and shoot at the same time. It would majorly suck if you were in a firefight, moved the analog stick a bit too much, and your gun went away.
Anyway, I'd probably buy this game if I didn't already have it for PC... that said, it is a nerfed version of the original. Given 2 years, they could've done better.
