how can i get up on the MGS storyline without playing the games

If you have a PS3, you can download the MGS Database. It will explain EVERYTHING except stuff that's specific or wasn't answered/revealed until MGS4. It won't give you anything on MGS4 until you unlock that info with a completed save file of the game.
