I agree. It was a commercial failure as it failed to drive Wii momentum. If they'd used the resources on a 2D Mario of the same quality and scale it would have worked much better.

But I enjoyed it and it was the best game on the Wii so far for me. So, from a business perspective they shouldn't have done it, and from my perspective they should have.

SMG2 is the same mistake, it will sell less than SMG for sure (because some people who bought SMG didn't like it and it won't attract new customers) but I will enjoy it. Once they see how much better NSMB Wii sells they will stop prioritising 3D Mario.
