I will fully admit I only read about 1/3 your post.

Having said that, I bet I have heard nearly everything you said before. And going with that, I will just say this. Games that reviewers and 'bigwigs' in the gaming 'industry' (aka, people who 'critique' the gaming industry) keep calling 'game of the year' or 'must have' are not necessarily games which sell the best or are the most popular.

With that knowledge in mind, You now understand why Mario Galaxy didn't sell as well as something like Mario Kart Wii, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games or won't sell as well as New Super Mario Bros Wii.

Along with the simple fact that 3D Mario titles don't sell as well as 2D Mario titles.

Well, if you have then you sure didn't address it.

Well, he's complaining about cutscenes and not being able to 'play the game'.  Last time I checked, more people were complaining that Nintendo games were 'kiddy' and 'lacked production values'.  And a lot of people consideredMario Galaxy amazing because it felt like 'the complete Mario game'.  Part of that is the cutscenes that draw you in and make the game feel even more complete than Mario 64, which essentially was just a set of worlds connected to a Castle with no story other than 'cake and Bowser'.

Also, unlike what he felt was the problem of Super Mario Sunshine, it wasn't the added cutscenes (which by the way, were minimal).  It was the limitations put on Mario and the gameplay in order to make the FLUDD system paramount.  As well as the bad camera.  Which he claimed Mario Galaxy had a bad camera.....which it didn't.

And yes, I HAVE heard all of that before.  But like I said, 3D mario games are made for those who like 3D games.  And the majority of those who like 3D games also like stuff like cutscenes, story and graphics.  That's why Mario is going in that direction.  If you don't like it, then there's a whole other series on its way in 2 weeks (New Super Mario Bros Wii).

Six upcoming games you should look into:
