In my home town (A town of about 900) the Make a Wish foundation built a barn for a kid with a terminal illness. I don't know exactly what the illness was, but it left him wheelchair bound and unable to speak or use his hands, and at the age of 11, he did not have long to live.

Anyways, the kid went to a petting zoo and saw a donkey, and at the sight of the donkey the kid became so excited that he was able to actually get out of the wheelchair and stand up, which I don't think he'd ever done before. The Donkey had such an effect on him that the owner gave him the donkey (which he, or his parents, named Patrick) and the Make a Wish foundation built a small barn and paddock for the donkey in their yard.

So every time I went to the corner store (only store in town), there was this donkey braying loudly in this family's lawn. It was simultaneously bizarre and uplifting.

That's my story...

wow wonderful story stof.

The donkey....I wonder why it had such an effect though

& how nice of the donkey's owner was it to actually give it to the family....good people still exist in this world

When I hear stories like yours I feel very nice

Well, not to belittle the contributions of the owner, but lets be serious. If I owned a donkey, I'd probably be looking for whatever excuse I could to get rid of the thing.
