Yeah, I don't think its a huge difference either - however, if you want to play these games on a PS3 hooked up to an HD TV, you will be getting a nicer visual presentation of essentially the same game and assets - ideally you also be getting a smooth frame rate and no tearing, too.

I might well pick this up as I missed the GoW titles (solid PC man at the time) and would like to play them before I try out GoW3.  I toyed with picking them up cheap for PS2 and having my PS3 up-scaling them, but clearly having them available native to PS3 with HD resolution is preferable.

Definitely worth picking up if you want to try the games. Just locking the framerate would be enough reason for me. Trophies are a cool bonus. On top of that you don't have to hunt down some second hand seller and hope to get a decent copy. I am hoping more game series get compilations like this. Well, I should say the one that have a story should get them. GoW very loosely fits that definition of course, but still fits it well enough imo.

I think you should pick them up before GoW3 as well. I'm going to pre-order this for import even though I have the originals (I don't have anything to play them on though >_>), just because I want to play them again before GoW3, but not two weeks before GoW3 is released (or whenever Sony decides to release it in Europe. I wouldn't be surprised to see the two getting released neck and neck).

The collection should also offer sharper controls due to the lock at 60 FPS (where they were only 30 FPS on the PS2). That, the resolution and AA and the v-lock is all the reason I need to throw a bit of cash after this. Trophies only offer more reasons of ocurse
