your idea is pretty weird and disconnected from the question. I mean, if they preordered the game, that means they wanted it, downfall of fighters or not. Loss of exclusivity is a non issue; people have known this for months and months.

That preorder number in the OP is 1 WEEK before the release of the game. So are you saying that 33,000 PS3 owners and 14,000 360 owners Suddenly decided "fighters suck" and changed their preorder 1 WEEK before the game released?

I guess logic does not work on the planet you are from.....pre-orders are just possible sales, some people if they care about a game will pick up their pre-orders the day and date the game is released.  Pre-orders are not definate sales, it is more like a maybe; I moved my pre-order from tekken to uncharted (2 weeks before Uncharted 2 launched), most probably did not pick up tekken and opted for some other game.  It is not rocket science, why was that so hard to understand?  Tekken lost my sale due to loss of exclusivity, this is my choice and is why I choose not to buy it.  60$ dollars for a fighter is too much, fighters have declined over the years as well.  Either way you slice it, there are various factors why this game did not do as good as the previous tekken games on the ps2 (install base, more competition, etc).

You're not getting the point.

Exclusivity loss was from months and months ago. And those preorder numbers are from both consoles already. Are you saying that those thousands of people suddenly just realized that the game is no longer exclusive 1 WEEK before release?

And I'm not talking about previous Tekken games or whatever. I'm talking about how come preorder numbers were so far higher than actual first week sales. I don't care about how much it sold. I care about the discrepancy between preorder and actual sales. Please read the post before claiming "downfall of fighters": again, if they preordered it, that means they wanted it, decline of fighters or not. And 50,000 people can't have had the same reason as you did.
