^Nintendo never launches first, except with the NES, since the console market didn't exist anymore after the crash and Nintendo had to rebuild it.

Also Wii is the first time since the NES that they've enjoyed this dominance, the SNES won but it was not anywhere near as successful as the NES.  Wii is more like NES than Nintendo's other consoles

We're arguing because you haven't given a good reason for 2011, for every tradition you name I can raise a counter, and its just bad business

How is it bad buisness to launch a new platform in 2011? Think about it a second, Microsoft and Sony will both probubly launch their next consoles in 2010-2011. Its definatly not good buisness for Microsoft to hold on to a sinking ship, the 360 is rapidly shrinking in market share. So we can expect a new Microsoft console any year now.

Then Nintendo itself is beginning to loose steam, the hardware sales are dropping in comparison to Sony's PS3. Even Nintendo's price cut had very little affect on the dip in sales. So yes in 2010 Nintendo might be able to claw itself back to where it was earlier this year but thats doubtfull. So with a shrinking user base Nintendo will have the oppertunity to build on the Wii's momentum by unleashing another platform.

You say its bad buisness to compete? How is it good buisness to let the competition go unchallenged?
