It certainly never had taken Japan before and it has not to this day either. Portables own Japan and they sure are not HD. Besides Wii is still way ahead of PS3 despite the very good sales of the slimversion.

Alright, let me rephrase that, CORE HOME CONSOLES have retaken Japan with CASUAL HOME VIDEOGAME TOYS are (is) on their way down.

The HD userbase is now 5 million, compared to Wiis 8.5 million. Even the PS3 on its own is showing greater third-party sales, heck even the 360 is beating it on smaller titles!

I don´t know why I respond to this. If it makes you happy to judge sales when it fits to your tastes then by all means do that. It wont change the reality in Japan though and that is that the so called "casual" home console is still having a huge lead over the "core" consoles.

But all that is laughably nonimportant as Japan is (like I said) a portable country (more to the point a DS country). DS rules Japan and all others except with the possible exceptions of Wii and PSP are not big enough to mention if one are discussing sales. The two systems that you say are taking Japan are the two smallest. Ironic.
