even if the PS3 doesnt beat the wii this year, nintendo should realize something is wrong. the fact that the sales are even this close should be more than enough incentive for nintendo to start pushing their software out the door.

i pray to god nintendo never makes this mistake again, and in the future continually releases games, instead of having game spurts and then year long droughts.

Nintendo have always drip fed games ever since the N64 days. This is just a case of FSTML (Forum short term memory loss)

Nintendo's software is fine... they had a bit of a AAA gap between 2H 2008 and 1H 2009, but that was due to Wii Sports Resort getting delayed.

The real problem is 3rd party software.  Looking at Nintendo's DS support, they also had a huge upfront push there with scattered dry periods after that... the difference between DS and Wii though is that DS had 3rd parties plugging gaps for Nintendo and carrying the system in 1st party dry spells.  Nintendo should be working closer with 3rd parties to get Wii games, and while we have some fruits of that from Japan (MH3, DQX), it's probably not enough.

They need to get more on it.  Why did it take 2.5 years to get Red Steel 2?  Where are the Level-5 games?  Kojima Productions games?  Rockstar (Leeds?) GTA?  A full bodied 3rd person Resident Evil?  Soulcalibur 4 & Tekken 6 ports?  A FFXIII spinoff?  Kingdom Hearts 3?  Street Fighter IV?  This is the sort of stuff Wii should probably be getting anyway given it's massive success, but Nintendo should really be doing more to ease whatever issues 3rd parties seem to have with throwing them major support console side.
