I think the author of this article got it wrong. Sony was able to keep their other consoles in production because it was the market leader and continued to be supported by the consumers which in turn was supported by developers. The Xbox did not enjoy such success and as such Microsoft (and even Nintendo) had to move on to their next generation machines to 'wipe the slate clean'.



Numbers are like people. Torture them enough and you can get them to say anything you want.
