Quality is a matter of opinion. Not everyone thinks like you do.
SMB3 is by far one of the best games of all time, the clever level design, the creative powerups, the music, everything about it is perfect. My friends who are not gamers in any way, shape, or form can pick it up and still have fun. It gets really hard and some levels are almost impossible, but they are just so well designed that you keep playing.
