New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

it got a 7

Mario Kart Wii got a 6 and it outsold all games mentioned in the OP... combined. What this shows is that critics get overruled by gamers and in the end that's what really matters: pleasing gamers, not reviewers.

just because something sells doesn't necessarily mean its quality

Absolutely correct. However, the OP's method of a 90+ Metacritic isn't any better as an indicator to quality. This is taking the word of approximately 60 game players over the opinions of many more. Not to mention critical reviews in gaming are a joke compared to other fields like books, movies, and music. If there were more credibility in the review system, they may have some weight, however without it, I'd say sales are actually a better indication if we have nothing else to go on.

Couldn't disagree more. Just because something is popular or catches on, does not make it a good product. Internet Explorer has the highest marketshare despite being one of the worst if not the worst browser available.

You couldn't disagree more with what? My point was that neither reviews, nor sales are very good indicators to the quality of a game. I said sales might have a slight edge since critical reviews in gaming are an absolute joke and better to get the horrid opinions of the many as opposed to the horrid opinions of the few.

How does the Internet Explorer analogy fit? You do realize it's a pack-in, don't you? Most people don't download internet explorer. It's just there when they get their PC. A better thing to wonder is which optional browser has the most marketshare, and see if that in fact is of high quality. I'd like to think that's Firefox, and if it is, that's some good taste there. Love me some Firefox.
