Nintendo has never cared for catering to anything but gaming when it costs them as a manufacturer. The video services starting to come out don't cost Nintendo, instead they provide value. A bluray player would not make piracy impossible as they already know how to get past its security and there are plenty of other options out there that could provide the same capacity and at a smaller cost. I also don't see a trade-in program happening. Instead there will be a way to migrate your downloaded content to the new machine, but no discounts on newer hardware. The only items right here is that there will eventually be a successor and it will have HD capabilities (for games). |
Blu-Ray still has its security intact.. which is a big achievement in my view.. but seeing nintendo past offerings i will be surprise if they go for something mainstream.. they will like to get their own tech..
