The whole argument was about the performance of 3rd party core games that's what I said in the beginning and people argued that I wasn't looking at the whole picture, I never said 1st party or casual games aren't selling.

The back and forth was about 3rd party core games which this game is an example of hence why I mentioned the performance of 3rd party core games which, by the way, the game developer himself was pointing out: the market for 3rd party games on Wii... I'm sure he meant games such as Final Fantasy and not games targeted at the casual audience then people are arguing with me that third party is doing great even though there are few 3rd party core games that have sold a million copies on a system with a 55 million user base.

Square Enix: Of course we would love to succeed, but seeing the current Wii market, it will be no easy feat.

That's straight from the developers' mouth and I'm just pointing out why a big developer like SE would call an FF game selling not an easy feat.

Seriously, Square Enix?

Let's just recall all the games SE has so far released for the Wii. Not even 1 high budget release. All spin-offs, low budget, casual titles. Instead, they solely focus on HD development (and mainly on the 360 OMG), barely having profits even with the DS cashcow and the endless software they release on it.

And if the Wii market is so damn casual, how come SMG, Zelda and SSBB have sold millions upon millions? Do you actually think they'd get into games like that? There are millions of both hardcores and core gamers owning a Wii system waiting for a AAA game to purchase, be it a Nintendo or a third party one.

And guess what? Third parties have so far released only 1 such game, of fine quality and what the market wants, and it sold over a million and became the best selling third party console game this gen. Not even MGS4 did that. The market is there. It's just that 3rd parties don't have the balls to explore it.

Yeah, their Wii line-up so far isn't incredible, to say the least...

I just grabed a cheap copy of "Dragon Quest Swords", i'm playin' it these days, and i'm glad it was VERY cheap, otherwise, i would have felt robbed... quick cash-in, with some good intentions, but a very poor execution... a very boring game... and i don't think that the 500.000 japanese DQ fans who've bought this were really happy... just compare the quality/price to any Zelda, or to any Tales: what a shame...

What else? The Chocobo's Dungeon game... not that bad, but quite repetitive... nice little strategy game, and lovely graphics in the TP vein, so let's say it was a decent effort, but not AAA by any means... and not even AA, if you know what i mean...

And that FFCC port from DS: i don't even want to touch it, the critics were just... you know... when ALL critics tell you a game is bad and cheap, it has to be for a good reason... port a DS game to Wii is just so lame in itself: who had such an idea? I'd fire him...

Then there are also the two FFCC on Wiiware: they seem to be OK, not really RPG's or even action/adventure, but some people may like those kinds of spin-off, i can understand... but on Wiiware, i prefer to give my money to some small and young teams, full of potential, and who really deliver some creativity and some originality... and also, i don't want to pay extras for some costumes and some additional powers: the Square Enix DLC policy just screamed "we want easy money from you" all over the place... and it's not something i appreciate...

So i totally agree: Square Enix has so far absolutely NO RIGHT to criticize a console and a market they've neglected or treated like an afterthought for now three years... this will be their first "real" effort on Wii, but in recent years, they've damaged the Crystal Chronicles brand by milking it on DS and Wii, and they really need a quality game to gain back some trust from the potential Square Enix lovers who've got a Wii...

And btw, they were the kings of top-notch graphics on PS2, and they can't do the same or even better on a 2-3 times more powerful console?

Really? And i am supposed to applaud, or something? Or maybe it's because the budget for a Wii game is way too expensive, and the userbase way too small? Yeah, that must be the reason... (end of sarcasm)
