There's no practical way to control these impulses yet, nor even really affect them without causing severe damage. We can read them, sure, but we can also read a lot of things off of the Sun.

I saw a video on Discovery Channel where they had this remote-controlled headset that could alter your balance by controlling the little hairs in your inner ear, so I'm not counting anything out over the next few years.
