You also have to remember that Nintendo WILL launch a new handheld in the next 2 years. That needs resources too and will cause a slow down in EAD Wii titles being developed. I'm hoping Nintendo begin to expand their software development a little more aggresively in the next couple of years. They not only need new teams, how about one or two new EAD teams? However they also need more people per team as games will take longer to develop on their new systems.

This is a good point: i wonder why they don't create more teams, or don't purchase some talented teams to have more 2nd party workin' on their IP's, or don't do more exclusive partnerships with 3rd parties, like they did sometimes with Capcom, Hudson and Sega, or are doin' just now with Team Ninja...
They have so many billions, they can just do whatever they want, and they know how to recognise talent, the risks are not that important... maybe there's still a "Rare syndrome" active somewhere in the Nintendo's offices, or something... but they really should go for it...
I know that a few years ago, Nintendo had some kind of school, for talented young students to exercise in programmation and game design... if i'm correct, many of the Art-style games were fresh ideas created by these students, and then polished and refined by some Nintendo teams...
And in an interview, i remember that Miyamoto said he wasn't eternal, and that it was important to bring some new blood in the teams, and trust some of the 2nd generation "Nintendo big guys" to take charge of more important teams...
All this is quite essential for their future: they just can't trust 3rd parties to fill the gaps in their planning, as we all (sadly) know... so they have to be strong enough just by themselves, and take all the opportunities they can...
4000 employees for such a strong company is ridiculous, as it also includes hardware engineers and marketing guys... there's maybe 3000 guys really workin on the software side, when they could have two times more to release even more AAA games, without taking years and years...
