SE's current strategy seems to be simple. Put the kiddie stuff on the DS. Look at Children of Mana and Heroes of Mana. Ugh. Children sold over 300,000, but that game clearly left a bad taste in the mouth of many, which is why Heroes bombed.
Famitsu's review of FFXII RW hinted that it is more of the same.
The PSP is getting the titles aimed at a more mature market.
