I think we should make due with the numbers that we have. You can hardly use some numbers from this site, and then say the others are terribly wrong. The system used to measure one is the same to measure the other. I seriously doubt Ioi uses a teaspoon to measure PS3 sales, or a steam shovel to measure Wii sales. The system is the same. So if you accept that one number is valid you should accept that the other number is equally valid. Unless your accusing Ioi of fabricating numbers.

Personally I wouldn't harsh on somebody making a educated guess based on facts, and some good old fashioned intuition. However if someone was low balling a prediction, because they do not like a brand of console, or feel intimidated by its success then they do deserve to have their noses rubbed in. Otherwise they will never learn. Especially those who arrogantly pronounce they are predictions are fact, and that everyone else is a moron.

I think threads like this can keep some posters honest. The thought that you could be called out for humble pie will at the very least ensure that some posters think before they type. I am sure it could have been phrased better, but I can see the frustration from some posters that get the hate treatment.

They make a valid reasonable prediction, and reactionary fanboys attack them in mass. Then when the reasonable happens, and the self serving doesn't. Those same characters scurry under the nearest rock, and pretend like nothing has happened. Perhaps we need a few more archivist posters on this site to blindside the reactionaries. Whipping out quotes from three months ago like a blast from the past. Those kind of posters really know how to dish out crow.

Someone should bump the bet thread. It seemed to have served the same purpose in a less confrontational way.
