I think a more realistic way to discuss this is the aforementioned numbers last year...the 360 outold the PS3 from here on out by 2 million. As of now, the 360 is trending lower than the PS3 and the PS3 is trending higher than the 360 compared to last year. To me, we could see, based on these numbers the PS3 outselling the 360 WW from here on out by 3 million given the others sales and japan with FF13.
So then when we get to 2010, the gap is 4 million. Even if we dont factor in GT5 WW, God of war small bump in others and America, Yakuza small bump in japan, the PS3 would need to outsell the 360 by 77k a week for it to pass the 360 next year in 52 weeks.
Obviously natal and the wands are mysteries as far as sales bumps and next years holiday trends could show the 360 outselling the PS3 over the holidays, but i think its looking more and more like the PS3 will catch the 360 this gen.
Let us also not forget when discussing 360 vs PS3 sales the 360 had a year head start as the ONLY next gen console on shelves, this cannot be ignored when comparing OVERALL sales, a 12 month head start with no competition WW and the PS3 didnt even launch in others until the end of March 2007. All of these are real factors to bring into the discussion which makes the PS3 even coming close to the 360 all that more impressive.
