I'm not questioning that lots of legitimate players enjoy the personal servers/modding capabilities. I'm just saying that the majority who take advantage of it are pirates. It's not throwing the baby out with the bath water - it's unfortunately costing a vocal minority of paying users who would like these features, to prevent te vast majority of vocal complainers who wouldn't be buying the game at all. 100,000 people signed this petition to complain, but I can guarantee you that 75,000 of them have no intention of forking over money for the game with or without the server support.

I don't agree with those figures, but even if they were accurate, I have to ask: so what? How many of those 75,000 are going to buy the game now, as opposed to before? It's not more than the number of people that are alienated by this move. More importantly, stopping those people comes at the price of hamstringing the game for the rest of us. That is ill-advised at best.

We're drifting far off-topic though. This thread wasn't meant to point out the stupidity of Infinity Ward's move (there's a separate thread just for that), but to point out how they, and especially Game Informer, are being dicks to the consumers.
