Indeed, why not? I like matchmaking sometimes, but most of the time I just like searching for my own servers.

That is a very good question.  Could have something to do with their networking framework.  Only IW knows the answer to that.

UT2004 pulled it off way back when, why can't they do it in 09?

I don't recall UT2004 having P2P matchmaking.

Oh no it wasn't P2P, it just put you in the game with smililarly skilled peeps.
